Wedding info gathering
I posted on Toronto.Metblogs about Suzy and my time at Canada's Bridal Show. (This weekend at the Convention Centre) You can read and comment on it there if you like but there is one other thing I didn't post about which I will mention here:
"You didn't book your hall 2 years in advance!!!???" was usually accompanied by a look that seemed to be saying: "You're putting me on...right?"
Oh, the horror! Say it aint so, Joe! Say it aint so!
It's as if they can justify the prices for their items by making you afraid that you have to book so far in advance. This gives them the ability to show others, look: Sept 23rd, 2007 is booked..*sigh* you better book now too. Then they raise the prices because they are SO sought after. The funny thing is, when Suzy and I respond without fear or worry they always end up backing down, pretending to side with our way of thinking and what do you know? They always have a date free around the time we need it. So.. if you are afraid book now and it is expensive.. or we have discounted dates but you have to book TODAY and they are in 8 months time. (which they already tried to prove is too close) I hope that made sense. Even if it didn't walk away with this conclusion: People are suckers and we all buy into nonsense at times.
I suppose though that if you were to pay 10,000 for catering and chair covers, 5,000 for a videographer and photographer, 1,000 for a cake (ps all these prices are not top value), 250 for the cake cutting utensils, 2,500 on the dress etc. you'd better book the wedding 2 years ahead of time.
Or you do what we want to, which is plan everything for UNDER 10,000. Thankfully, Suzy and I are on the same page about every little detail here.
