Wanted: Toy Kitchen
I belong to a FreeCycle Yahoo group from Toronto. We send messages back and forth to this group ID with items wanted or offered. (For free, all the person has to do is go and pick it up or meet with you) The idea is to Freecycle, (think ReCycle) rather than just toss away.

I believe that in many cases we play with what is made available to us. If a boy is given dolls and only dolls does anyone disagree that he would play with them? Why would anyone, (and I mean nothing against the lady who requested this..her post just got me thinking) want to get their 2 year old daughter a toy kitchen to play with?
People may cite the idea that we play with things that mimic our parents etc. I find this argument unconvincing. I never saw my father play with guns, yet as a small boy we did play 'army' or 'guns'. So they may say that I saw it on TV and mimicked it. This may be the case but so do girls who tend to watch that sort of thing. Of course we then label these girls 'tomboys' as if they are somehow different than ordinary girls. Giving a girl a toy kitchen in my opinion is disgusting! No, technically it doesn't mean anything. Probably 100% of the time these parents aren't knowingly forcing a gender role down their kids throat. I still find it so weird that I posted about it.
Wanted: Toy Kitchen! No thanks mom!

Hi, I'd like to get my two year old daughter a toy kitchen but the
stores are so expensive if I wanted to buy one for her. Does anyone
have an old one kicking around in their garage? Would appreciate it.

Ok, I had a toy kitchen growing up! I got it when I was 5 for Christmas. I even have a picture of me playing with it. It didn't effect me one way or the other.. ok, maybe it did.. since I don't cook now! LOL.

freeTOreuse a better choice than American freecycleto - freecycle Toronto
freeTOreuse is a Toronto Reusable Social Networking group of over 5500 members where each and every day people give of what they no longer use to those who have a need and reuse.
The owners of freeTOreuse both born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada do not charge for this service as well as they do not make any monetary gain or profit for the work that they do.
Unlike freecycle a nonprofit corporation in the state of Arizona - The Freecycle Network who run freecycle Toronto - freecycleto who's founder Deron Beal has received $130,000 American Dollars from WM Waste Management. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7955511/from/RL.1
Here is some more about freecycle for those who need to know and be forewarned http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freecycle_Network read it in its entirety.
Why would anyone want to support freecycle who are going to make money off of those items that you are going to give away for free? We sure don't know but maybe it is because those who join freecycle do not know what they are getting themselves into until it is too late. Well we think it is never too late!
At least ways for those of us Canadians in Toronto, Ontario who want to keep our cash north of the border! You have an option! Come join freeTOreuse today and bring more than just a smile but also bring those Canadian owned items and keep those belongings that you no longer want to use but want to reuse in Canada.
Join freeTOreuse today and bring a smile. :)
