Manufacturing Jobs in Ontario

John Tory (official opposition leader) asked the Premier today (approx 2:30pm) what the Ontario government is doing to stop the continued loss of Manufacturing jobs. He said that about 42,000 jobs have been lost this year.

Dalton McGuinty responded by...well not responding. He talked about other initiatives the Ontario Liberals are working on etc. When he did address this he did it round-about by saying that Manufacturing shipments are up by 5.?% this last month.

My response is of COURSE they are up. We are shipping most of our stuff to Mexico and China at my plant. What do these numbers represent!?

Watching the Legislature almost gives me a headache. I want to be able to see where actual work gets done. You almost get the impression that they each pontificate all day long neither affecting the other. (Unless they can reveal hidden documents or introduce a scandal) Then in the paper the next day the media picks a side and runs with it.

How do they get anything done!?

If it will at all help (or even start to show some success) some of those I work with are contacting the CAW (Candian Auto Workers union) one of the most powerful unions in the country who have had an eye on our plant for a LOOOONG time!
