Al-Jazeera Staff blog
The staff of Al-Jazeera have started a blog titled "Don't Bomb Us". Head over and read what they have written.. the post from today's date about telling the truth has generated a number of comments like this:
Also, please watch the movie "Control Room"(plot:A documentary on perception of the United States's war with Iraq, with an emphasis on Al Jazeera's coverage.) for a good look at what happened regarding the bombing of Al-Jazeera and the death of their staff.
Anonymous said...You are a bunch of sorry motherfuckers - if only the US had the guts to bomb you fucking terrorist sympathisers back into your caves where you belowg. (sic)
You yourselfs have just admited in this post im replying to that you belive in the extreamist point of view and i quote(reporter Tarek Ayoub killed and cameraman Zuhair Falih injured. This is too high a price to pay for telling the truth. But at Al Jazeera, we believe the price of not doing so would be even higher.)..So it does seem that your channel is willing to murder its employees by sending them to places and people who can will cause them to die simply for rateings and money while you call it Reporting The Truth. In reality you should have said Reporting Your Truth. (sic)A quick response to TShearn. Two members of their team died on the roof of their building, where they were bombed and caught the deaths on TV. Members of CNN staff also thought that the US military might have been targeting these members of the press. Then, all of a sudden Private Lynch was found and the bombing took backstage. And btw, if a company says that the death of any of their staffers is too high a price to pay... that is a GOOD thing! Or can I use your own twisted logic and say that CNN, Faux News, etc "...is willing to murder its employees by sending them to places and people who can will cause them to die simply for rateings and money while you call it Reporting The Truth (or Fair and Balanced)..."

3rd point response: TShearn - a mistake in writing isn't a lie. One died - doesn't change the point. Man you are all about absolutes.
1st point response: The price of not telling the truth because they are afraid of journalists dying.. hello? Why allow embedded journalists in the US Army then? I'm sorry but your posts aren't logical. Am I blinded by my will to hide from the truth? Wow. So in your world everyone knows what the truth is but willingly (for some reason) hides from it. Wow. Where do you come up with this shit?
2nd point response: You have poor in your country and people die all the time and etc etc. Why was it ok to go to Iraq to do anything then? (Now before you jump over that..this isn't MY justification for not going..i'm just trying to follow your logic here) And what is it about Americans. You may live there but you are by no means the end of wisdom in your country.
Job 12:2 No doubt but ye [are] the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
Job 12:3 But I have understanding as well as you; I [am] not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
We all live in the world TShearn. I'm sorry that you get to comment on where I stand with my country and I don't get to do the same to you. Nice American. Really nice. Ps. I'm an American too. WOOOOOOOOOOO scary shit huh?

Investigative Journalists' jobs are to tell the truth. Not just facts but editorial and qualitative commentary based on 'the whole picture' and details. To die because of this is too high a price to pay. Whether they are Iraqi, American, Canadian (God forbid) they are all PEOPLE with unique experiences and the right to speak. Canadians are allowed to feel compassion for Iraqis and anger towards American policy. Americans are allowed to as well TSHearn, and many do. Not you, though? That's wicked sad and I feel sorry for you.
