New Year.. resolutions...

It seems weird to set a resolution at the New Year.. I suppose people do it often because it's a good time of year to remember to reflect..you've just seen family, been away perhaps, gotten time out of the rush and grind.. but something about it bothers me. (Not in any huge sense but more generally)

Why aren't people trying to evaluate their life more closely outside of this date? They're doomed to failure mostly because they are based on a strong emotional reaction to this time of year...(or because they were just forced to state one for friends or loved ones)

At work they ask us to write out our short and longterm personal goals (work and life outside) for the year. Then we are evaluated based on how we approached those goals. It makes sense to do this..but.. not just one time per year in our lives.
