Skinheads
My fiancee called me at 9pm, telling me about a Skinhead show on A&E. (Titled: Skinhead USA) It was a horrifying look at what some 8, 14, 16, 20 year old kids can get themselves into...and turned into.
Watching a little boy repeat the '14 words'.
Seeing that very powerful looking red, white and black Nazi flag and other symbols of their hatred was very difficult especially for me while I am reading William Shirer's book: The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich - A History of Nazi Germany. The way they worship Hitler as well as the leader of their own group. They do their outreach by going to local Alabama youth who live on the streets and promising them food and love and comfort and belonging with each other. (Of course only for the whites)
I went to school with somvehementnt 'Aryans' and other related groups at David and Mary Thompson in Scarborough, Ontario. We
Oh my.. for the first time for me ever.. the fire alarm is going off and security came on telling us why etc. But my window is open a crack and I smell smoke. I walked into the hallway and it is definite. Outside of our living room window I can see smoke pouring out of the ceiling.. gotta go!

There was a security guard doing floor by floor walk throughs. He said the stairwell has smoke rising as well, of course the elevator shafts are sending smoke up and out into the hallways too.
More smoke started to billow out of a stairway access to the basement from the ground and we just watched 3 firefighters go down there with the masks and tanks.. (I'm on the 10th floor of this 40 some odd floor apt. building)
Interesting... we can start to smell some smoke in the apt. Things will be ok, but man.. and imagine I was trying to get some sleep at 11pm. The wailing of the alarm gets sorta intense..haha

and your ambition is to be burnt alive when blogging? Not just run out and call the firestation if they aren't already on the way?
And William Shirer's book is a good read . I wonder what some people made of his linking Protestantism to Nazism. In the USA The Klan did target Catholics once upon a time didn't they.

Everything went ok here, they put the fire out after about an hour or so... when my roomate came home though at 12:30am he said it still smelt like death downstairs. Seems also that a friend of mine's (Stephanie) company she works for holds the insurance policy for this building too. Small city.

Thanks for having a brain. So few people writing blogs have one that they use.
I left the Tampa area and moved to Cal with my kids, where I assumed they would see some tolerance and diversity... oops, ended up in So Cal. Loads of diversity, not alot of tolerence.
good point about the KKK and Catholisism. There's more to KKK intolerance than race, they are also antisemitic. The sad thing is I see things headingt that way in America as a whole. When I left Tampa this summer they were number 2 in most registered neo-nazi affileated groups. Seems that hate groups are on the rise all over.
Big thing here in So Cal is a group called Prusian Blue, a couple 12 year old girls who sing white supremist and neo-Nazi music.... pretty sick stuff.
It's so frustrating trying to raise rational kids in a crazy world...
