Minimum wage increase announced
Dalton McGuinty (Ontario's Premier from the Liberal Party) announced that one of two planned minimum wage increases will start this Feb 1st. "By phasing in the minimum wage increases, we can help these workers benefit from Ontario’s economic growth while keeping Ontario businesses competitive."
Minimum wage in Ontario is rising to $7.75 this year and $8.00 for the next year.
Basically $30.00 extra dollars a month for a 30hr/wk worker.
I wonder how far people figure minimum wage has to increase to be a living wage. I have heard time and time again that our minimum wage is too low, so I gather these 25 cent increases aren't going to bring us up far enough.
