Gas

Is up to 135.9 in Toronto today! What the hell? I have never seen an increase of almost 38 cents happen in just 3 short days.

NDP leader Jack Layton called for a gas price ceiling. Somehow I don't think that adequately addresses the issue...

it's outrageous! it was like under $1 before the jump, right?

I'm paying about $3/gallon and it's just killing!

Before this large jump it was between 89.9 and 97.9 cents per litre. 3 years ago it was between 58 and 75 cents per litre.

    AARGH!

Not meaning to sound snarky or anything but this is capitalism at its best. The law of supply and demand. The supply is interrupted by the hurricane but people continue to suck up as much as they can. Take into account the fact that China and India will be consuming ever greater amounts and I'll wager the price of a litre/gallon of gas doesn't drop by much once the US gets its production back in order. That being said I see no efforts to conserve. I saw a report on US news that when asked if he would conserve as asked by the federal government the man said hell no, he had planned his trip for a long time and would let someone else do the conserving.
